2010 Goals

My main goal is to keep age grouping away as in just 3 months I will be 24, the last yr in my age category. Once I leave this category, its gonna be a whole lot tougher.

Then I compete against those fast ass women who run 6 min miles for 13 miles.... sorry
not me. I think at that point, I have more bike power.

No one knows how bad I want to be in California right now. I wish I can just move out there and live with people and not work lol....

Being a trainer is tough, real tough, but I am glad I know how to train, injury free.

Ever since I started racing triathlons in 2005, I really grew into how to race. 2005-2006 are seasons I went through to build my base, my racing resume to prove to myself that I can do it. From Sprint to Olympic to half IM and I did. But the thing was I wasn't focused on my personal best, I was just focusing on completion.

2008 was the season where I decided to go nuts and I raced practically every single weekend of the spring, summer, and fall months from May-Oct. Being that said, I raced diff distances, one weekend I might have been doing a sprint, then followed by a half IM. It made no sense and I barely had anytime to train correctly. Eventually it caught up to me and in Oct 2008 after I completed my 2nd half IM ever just missing breaking 6 hrs bc of stomach issues/knee pain, I injured my knees for 2 months.

The only savor I had was the pool, I got in that pool every day. My knees where so shot from all the racing and no recovery that I couldn't even cycle. I had permanent damage to my knees, my friend lynda asks me why I don't do the empire state building stair race anymore, its bc I am too afraid of injuring my knees. Plus, that race is some serious shit, you either do it full ass or no ass. The 2 yrs I raced it I spend 3 months training up various parking deck steps in the freezing cold at night, scaring the shit out of people lol, stadium steps, treadmill inclines, and even the steps in my 3 fam house. Yea, I ran up 86 flights of now nycs tallest building in 16 mins, but boy that training was rough and not fun.

Anyway, so 2008 was def my learning experience year, that btw 05'06' I already had my volume in, there was no reason why I had to go that nuts on the races. I think it was more because I had an independent study in motivations of triathletes (see how obsessed I am) but instead of using all the emails I had gotten from oh lets see, 6 months of racing, with no responses, I had to do a random fb interviews. lol

2009 was def my peak yr every single race I placed and won my ag, there were a few I came in 2nd, but I would take that bc they were pretty respectable races. It was a great feeling to see myself place consistently and grow faster in all 3 events. I think if anything my swimming speed was a little weaker than normal, but I think it more has to do with getting disoriented bc I cant see and I get dizzy sometimes during the swim of the race, very dizzy actually bc of my low bp.

I think what sucked most about 2009 was my bike crash. Never have I ever gotten into such a bad spill. It was all my fault, I was racing this super sprint tri which I was lit on a role for top 3 women overall and I was rolling so deep on the bike that I remember being the first women. You know when you get in that zone, I was def in the zone, but too much I'm afraid that caused me to crash. It was a circuit loop and I had my head between the aereobars and there was a huge pothole that swallowed me whole. It was quite strange bc we repeated the same bike circuit, the road was just paved, and I saw nothing hazardous during the entire course. Otherwise, I def wouldn't have been riding that carelessly.

I wiped out so badly that I got knocked out, broke my nose, I have scares on my knees, shoulder, chin bc I cut it open so bad I needed stitches etc. I cracked my helmet and my aluminum bike frame w carbon forks and like an idiot I let my bike store throw it out. There goes 5 yrs of racing w it down the drain. Yes, 5 yrs and I STILL don't have a racing bike.

See, I might not be top 3 overall, but I def think I am good enough to get sponsored. Not for the sake of being sponsored, but so someone can help me pay for my races that I can't afford. But you see, NO ONE will help me, no coach , no parents, no mentor, no one. Its all on me. I have some huge goals in 2010 and it is as small as paying for the races which is an accomplishment for me bc they are so damn expensive.

My ultimate goal is to qualify for clearwater, I think I am going to attempt to race a half marathon sometime in April, prob the flat jersey shore one so I can see how fast I can go. I have various prep races planned and then the big ones of course.

I have allowed plenty of time to recover and train and save and I am going at it hard. Hard and focused and being smart. I hope to GOD I get my racing bike soon, because it my life, in my family, I am promised 1 thing for 5 yrs, I finally graduate college and I get NOTHING. Being a triathlete who races, places and travels with no racing bike. But Hey, I got zipp wheels after 5 yrs....

2010 my year I WILL be behind you, watch for me!
